Portrait 0800?

Apparently I forgot to post sketch # 32! To think you all were this close to never seeing Hobo Alan. Oh the horrors.

Hipsters have hands and feet, therefore they are acceptable. Plus following rules was so March.

Portrait 0701

Finally! Another magnificent portrait...of...hands...

That's right folks for the glorious month of August I drew pictures of hands and feet. They are hard to draw so I made a point of doing some practice.

Drabblecast Episodes 21 & 87 Cover Art

As promised, here are the covers to two other Drabblecasts that I completed. They are for older archived episodes that previously did not have any cover art. You can listen to the episodes here: EP21 and here: EP87. Both stories are delightfully strange. If you like them, you most certainly must check out the latest episodes here: LINK

Drabblecast Episode 214 Cover Art

I have mentioned the Drabblecast before here, but for the new and/or forgetful it is an audio fiction podcast that publishes free weekly stories of the strange and wonderful variety. With each episode they publish cover art created specifically for the story. Recently I was able to create one such cover art for the upcoming episode # 214. The episode should be posted sometime this week on their website - which you can find at the following link:

http://web.me.com/normsherman/Site/Podcast/Podcast.html

The cover, as you can see below is for a story titled "The Wish of the Demon Achtromagk". It is about a Lovecraftian Demon that slips into our dimension, but finds itself possessing a vessel it did not predict. Its a really great story and I had a fun time drawing the cover art.

Portrait 0603

During the day the tree of misery looks a lot less spooky and a lot more climby.

Portrait 0602

Go climb a tree, you know you will like it.

Dr. Dinosaur

If you have never read the comic book Atomic Robo, your life is lacking some serious amounts of awesome. I mean come on, one of his villains is Dr. Dinosaur, who is potentially a time traveling super intelligent raptor, that or he is a strangely mutated mad scientist who thinks he is a time traveling super intelligent raptor. Either way, we win!

Portrait 0601

Finally I am getting around to posting my weekly portraits from June. So here they are. (well here one is)

When I get bored...

...I draw stuff. Just a little something I doodled at work. Also I will be posting more stuff soon!

Aquaman is for hipsters

He's so uncool that its cool to like him. Plus he is kind of a dick.

For the non-Aquaman initiated, Topo is the octopus, he is his sidekick from before the days of Aqualad.

Flash Rougues!

I have recently become a pretty big fan of the Flash comics. So, naturally I drew a portrait of his rouge gallery! YAY

Portraits 0501-0504

So I have been super busy lately, and perhaps a little lazy with the little free time I had. Either way, I am posting a whole boatload of stuff today, so hold on to your monocles!

For June's "portraits" I wanted to attempt some non-standard angles. I managed it for 3 of the 4 and on the 4th I have more then 1 person, so that's good. The 3rd one is a series of portraits from a lecture series I attended. Professor Hippopotamus was by far the most informative.

Portraits 0401-0405

So that is all the month of April! I tried to mostly draw dynamic poses, but I somehow managed to just draw a bunch of random stuff, and Frankie. Ah well...

sketchpost

This is a sketch based on this years Megabeast Deathmatch Competition. If you don't know what a Megabeast Deathmatch Competition is, you should really check it out. Its basically a series of epic imaginary battles between made up awesome beasts. In this case you have the Bandersnatch vs. Minhotops vs. BiggerBoris. The competition is hosted by the Drabblecast, which is a podcast of "strange stories by strange authors for strange listeners." Also really worth checking out.

Coming soon, a fully coloured and finished version of this sketch!

just some old sketches, and yes I know Thor's hammer is not supposed to be that big.

Portrait 0304

This is Sia a friend of mine from Architecture school, and no, that is definitely not a digitally added shadow, I swears it...

Self Portrait 02

This is what I get for not doing my weekly sketch on time...zombified.

Portrait 0303

This one is of my Grandpa (source photo by Jen V). But it was late...so I had to do another self portrait, to be posted next.

Self Portrait 01

So, I failed to complete my previous weeks sketch within its week. Which means I had to draw a self portrait in addition to the weeks sketch. So here it is, me and my brain.

Portrait 0301

Wait I know this guy! (which is why I sketched him) This month I decided to draw people I know personally. I figure it will make things a little harder.

Portrait 0204

I am pretty happy with this sketch. It is of my awesome girlfriend, and the source photo was taken by her. So it is a portrait sketch of a self portrait photo! You can find the original photo on her blog, linked HERE.

Portrait 0203

Once again, I got a bit lazy with the posting of sketches. But I promise, I am still making them! This one is another fashionable fellow with the image sourced from the Sartorialist blog (posted 2010-07-27).

Portrait 0202

So this is a portrait of a friend of mine, sometimes he is creepy. Especailly when his Halloween costume is a creepy person.

Portrait 0201

My first sketch of February, this month I am trying (tried...seeing as it is now March, but I drew them all in Feb, I swears it) my luck with copic markers! I was pretty happy with the results. So this first one is once again inspired by a photo (Jan. 24, 2011) on The Sartorialist.

Portrait 0105

Thanks again to the Sartorialist for great source photography (posted on Sept. 13, 2010).

Portrait 0104

Once again I used The Sartorialist blog for a photo source, the photo was posted Jan. 12, 2011.

I like the X-men

Hopefully I will be able to do a coloured version of this soon.
